Introduction

In the direct post war period there was very little interest in objects or documents originating from or belonging to high ranking Nazi's. In the mid 1950s this started to change, even though the Dutch press reported hardly about it in 1955.

No want for presidents' cars

[In article about auction of cars of French presidents]. In the meantime, there seems to be little blessing on historic cars. The vehicles of Hitler and Mussolini have also been dragged from auction to auction for years.

Trade in medals

The Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant reported about company Schulman-Albers, “Ridderordenmagazijn” (“Knight's order store”). It organized auctions of distinctions and medals, both from the Netherlands as those of other countries, Nazi Germany included.

The company made also reproductions of medals. Mainly because relatives of bearers of royal Dutch distinctions have to return these to the state after the death of the bearer.
